It was a golden weekend for the Waterloo Regional Synchro Club at the Hilton Worldwide Invitational in Etobicoke. The competition was fierce with over 100 teams entered in the various age categories, but that didn’t stop the Waterloo club from taking home more gold medals than any other in attendance.
Gold medals were awarded to:
10U Duet: Makenna Brooks and Izabell Mazurek
10U Team: Makenna Brooks, Keria Cadeau, Lana Graff, Annabelle Ly, Izabell Mazurek, Rachel Morwood, Mackenzie Nyusa and Indya Pentilchuk
12U Team Team: Jadyn Brooks, Cassidi Clairmont, Rae Fitzgerald, Myka Innanen, Holly Leskovar, Chloe Massey, Grace Payne, and Taylor Varnai
16-20 Solo: Shae Buchal
16-20 Team: Emily Beer, Shae Buchal, Emma Jewer, Amy Knechtel, Zoe Kreze, Gillian Lampkin, Mia Lazarevic, and Kelly Thurlow
Combo Team: Emily Beer, Shae Buchal, Shannon Fitzgerald, Sarah Frizzell, Emma Jewer, Amy Knechtel, Zoe Kreze, Gillian Lampkin, Mia Lazarevic, Maelin Stubbe, and Kelly Thurlow
The local club also found their way to the podium for three silver medals, a bronze, two 4ths, a 5th and two 6th place finishes.
Silver medals were earned by
Holly Leskovar in the 12U solo event, Shae Buchal and Kelly Thurlow in the 16-20 duet event, and the 13-15 team in the National team catergory (swimmers are: Avery Noll, Natalia Benavides, Ella Roland, Leah Sterling, Kelsey Marrese, Sydney Marrese, Alayna Innanen, and Isabelle Ly.
Rae Fizgerald captured a bronze medal in the 12U solo event, while teammates Jadyn Brooks and Cassidi Clairmont earned 4th places finishes in the 12U duet event alongside Chloe Massey and Taylor Varnai who finished in 5th.
Two more 10U duets also found their way onto the podium. Mackenzie Nyusa and Annabelle Ly swam their way to a 4th place finished will clubmates Lana Graff and Savannah Burton earned 6th place ribbons in a field of 18.
Rounding out the Waterloo club’s trips to the podium was Avery Noll who finished in 6th place in the National level 13-15 solo catergory.
