In 2017 Kitchener Girls Softball was excited to team up with the local training facility, Blue Chip Sports. Blue Chip Sports is an indoor training facility located in Kitchener providing our competitive softball teams with access to multiple batting lanes and a turfed field. Having this access allowed our competitive teams to improve on their skills over the winter and with lots of hard work many of our teams finished top 5 at the Ontario provincial championships last summer.
Blue Chip Sports provided instructors for our Learn To Play program which is aimed for girls aged 5 and 6. This is an introduction to softball where the players are taught the basic skills required for playing softball such as throwing, catching, hitting, running and basic game rules in a fun environment.
This past season we introduced a new program for girls aged 7 and 8 called Mini-Mite which was also run by Blue Chip instructors. Mini-Mite is designed to provide a transition from Learn To Play into House League. Players are divided into teams of 7 players each and do various skills development stations before competing in a mini-game each night. The mini-game is coach pitch with only infield positions which keeps all the players actively participating in the games.
The Mite program is for girls under 10 and is where the players start playing full games twice a week. This is also the age where the players start to pitch to each other during games. These teams are run by our volunteer coaches who provide instruction to these young players while providing a positive and fun experience as they develop their skills and learn about team work.
We will be accepting registration for all our programs (Learn To Play, Mini-Mite, Mite and our older divisions) starting in January. Last year all our youth programs filled before April so make sure to register early to secure your space.

Blue Chip Sports
Over 12,000 square feet of turfed surface with hardball/softball pitching lanes, hitting tunnels that are 75ft long / 22ft high and a gym. We have knowledgeable instructors that provide training programs to local baseball and softball teams and offer individual lessons, clinics and camps.
The Kitchener Kobras are planning on fielding Select teams for the U12, U14, U16 and U19 divisions in 2018. This program is ideal for players who want to play more competitive softball after the recreational season is finished.
Winter workouts will be starting up in January for those players interested in improving their skills and playing Select in 2018. Tryouts will take place in late spring.
