The KW Synchro Club recently hosted its annual Winter Waterland Showcase at the Waterloo Swimplex. Athletes of the club demonstrated their competitive routines for the community. For two weeks, CTV News promoted the community event in order to help the club bring awareness of the sport of synchronized swimming and grow its membership. This season, there was more action in the pool with other groups participating as well. The Waterloo Regional Synchronized Swimming Club, Brant Synchro Club and the Senior Fitness group from Lyle Hallman Recreational Center (better known as Souls ‘n Sync), all performed as special guests of the event.
The joint efforts of everyone made the event a success — from parent volunteers to the coaches of the clubs and the athletes who met for the first time the day of the show. Close to 100 athletes participated in the event!
At the first figure competition of the season, in Aurora, KW Synchro’s novice athletes placed in the top six in their respective age groups. Congratulations to Olivia Clay for her first-place finish, Neha Banerjee (fifth) and Katelyn Gillison (sixth).
Give synchronized swimming a try!
