CAMBRIDGE, ON – The YMCA of Cambridge is celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Jingle Bell Run on Sunday, November 22, 2015. The 2.5 km walk/fun run and 5km run is expected to attract over 300 fitness enthusiasts and runners, including youth, families, and school and corporate teams.
“Listen for the bells, watch for the smiles and feel the energy,” explains Chaplin Family YMCA General Manager Joanne Lea. “The Jingle Bell Run brings kids, teens, families and seniors out to our facility for some holiday cheer. It is great to see families, schools and companies participating together and it is especially fun when the kids come out dressed up in their favorite holiday costume.”
Participants in the 2.5km walk/fun run will take to the streets of Cambridge at 10:00am followed by participants in the 5 km run at 10:40 am. Upon completion of the race, participants are invited back to the gym for the awarding of medals and door prizes, food and entertainment. Prizes are awarded for first, second and third place finishes in each category as well as for best costume, youngest and oldest entrant, and most pledges raised. New this year, all participants will receive a free gift, and the first 350 registrants will receive a free technical wicking t-shirt.
Gore Mutual Insurance Company has returned for the ninth consecutive year as the Title Sponsor of the event. “We are grateful to Gore Mutual for their generous support of the Jingle Bell Run over the past nine years,” comments YMCA Chief Executive Officer John Haddock. “Their support plays a critical role in making this event a success so that we can better serve our community.”
Proceeds from the Jingle Bell Run will be used to help fund youth programming at the Chaplin Family YMCA including March Break, Summer, or PD Day Camp. These important YMCA programs help children and youth grow their potential, get healthy and active, and discover a place where everyone belongs.
“Gore Mutual is pleased to be part of this Cambridge holiday tradition,” says Heidi Sevcik, President and Chief Executive Officer of Gore Mutual. “We are proud to partner with the YMCA to give kids, teens and young adults the opportunities they need to be active, healthy and reach their full potential.”
