Each year, the Kitchener Rangers hold their annual “Fan Fest & Barbecue” and donate the proceeds to the local chapter of Children’s Wish. (The Children’s Wish Foundation of Canada grants wishes to children between the ages of three to seventeen, suffering from life threatening illnesses.)
This year’s event, held Sunday September 4 at the Kitchener Auditorium, combined with a generous top-up from the Rangers Organization, raised $11,141. The cheque was presented at a pre-game centre-ice ceremony on Friday Nov 3 by Shawn McKelvie, First Vice President of the Kitchener Rangers. Accepting the cheque were Anne Boehm (Children’s Wish), Amalia (age 6, whose wish to meet Mickey Mouse at Disneyworld in Florida was made possible through donations from the local community) and Isabela (age 11, Amalia’s Sister).
