The benefits of swimming and exercising in the water are endless! Water is an ideal environment in which to work out and get fit. Swimming (or waterfit) fitness programs are challenging for all levels — beginner to advanced — and yet easy on the joints thanks to the low-impact and high resistance nature of water. Swimming and water fitness builds endurance, muscle strength, and cardiovascular fitness. It really gets the heart pumping and helps to reduce stress. Participants maintain a healthy weight and build lung capacity and, best of all, the workout is done in a cool and relaxing atmosphere!

The City of Waterloo has a number of aquatic programs designed specifically for teen and adult learners. Some of these fun and unique swim programs include: Teen and Adult Swim Lessons, Aqua Cycle, Triathlon Training for Adults, Stroke Proficiency program for Teens (the only one of it its kind offered locally), and Leadership Courses.
