Female – Naomi Lance – Track & Field
Naomi Lance (Kitchener, Ont.) capped off her Warrior career with an exclamation mark at the 2016 CIS Track and Field Championship hosted by York. After winning her heat in the 300m race with a new personal best time of 39.37, Lance went into the finals ranked second and did not disappoint. Lance dashed her way into the UW record books once again with a time of 39.17 to win the CIS silver medal and was only 0.07 seconds away from the gold medal. Her second place finish landed her a spot on the CIS second-team all-star list. Lance was also a big part of the women’s 4x200m relay team that finished sixth overall with a season’s best time of 1:39.86.
Male – Erich Woolley – Volleyball
Erich Woolley (New Dundee, Ont.) put his heart and soul into his final weekend as a Warrior as the Waterloo men’s volleyball team competed in their second straight CIS Championship. Although the Warriors came away with two tough losses, the fifth year libero was on his game collecting 20 digs in two matches doing all he could to lift Waterloo to victory. Woolley finishes his career having won the OUA libero of the year twice, a spot on the first-team all-star list (this season), and the CIS libero of the year in 2013-14.
